PBY Tribe – FAQ

[Post moved from our old site, may (or may not) be slightly out of date until I have time to revise and remove this flag!]

FAQ #1: What blog types can participate?

For the first two groups, we are limiting it to a blog in the area (even if it’s a bit of a stretch) of personal development & networking. This is a big scope of everything from leadership, attitude, motivation, health/wellness, holistic, networking, MLM’s, success coaching, NLP, etc. Personal or Business is fine. The goal is inclusion, but it also is to make sure that backlinks from those blogs do the other members some SEO value. We sadly do not have much to offer to say… a baseball card blog. Not-for-profits are welcome to join us, even if it’s a real stretch, because sadly for them to get relevant backlinks is substantially more difficult than other businesses. Consider it, if you will, our community service. That said, if say perhaps there is a collective of medical professionals that would like in, or computer professionals, or baseball card collectors, I invite them to grab 5 friends (in the same fields) and I will gladly help them form another relevant team for them!!

FAQ #2: What if I’m around the globe and have a date/time conflict? & What if we overshoot the original 6 headcount?

Each team is strictly limited to 6 due to the time requirement to syndicate each other and to the functional team levels. You want a small tight core team which you will then build on through other traffic sources as well. Teams full and you’re looking for one or the times don’t work for you… post what time/date you want to start a new one and we’ll get you listed!

FAQ #3: Me and my buddies, all 5 of us, we’ve GOT to be on the same team!! You wont split us will you? You’ll make room for all of us right?

A group like this is essentially already a functioning sub-tribe. Splitting a sub-tribe for more than a brief learning session is not wise. As long as this group has 5-6 members, it is freestanding on its own and it is unlikely I will attempt to merge it with the other groups. I’ll consider it another unit, which will allow the friends more scheduling flexibility. I may however add another member or two to that group, depending on the temperaments of the individuals. I will do my best to protect existing sub-tribes. I invite you to form them!! Rally your friends!

FAQ #5: Do I have to use Skype? Do I have to use WordPress.org? Do I have to use the plugins you suggest?

Skype is required. WordPress.org (aka fully hosted blogs) is not required. However free blogs are known to be penalized in search engine results. That is strictly your decision. It doesn’t bother me in the least if you chose to remain on your free blog. You have to know & do what is right for YOU. (I do not know how badly penalized they are, my belief is that good content and SEO will be enough to override a negative, but I can not confirm that.) I personally believe hosted is the way to go, and gives you the most opportunity to brand yourself and install all the plugins you will want. The basic free plugins we suggest are mandatory. There are a couple that have paid versions and you are certainly not required to upgrade. (I’m not saying you wont want to!). The plugins serve essential functions that benefit both you and your teammates.

FAQ #6: What if I can’t stand the person/people on my team?

This is a mastermind group. Rule 1 is to actively strive for perfect harmony. If there are ripples consider first if the problem may be found within yourself. Feel free to let me know of real issues, but do not bring me gossip. Any blogger consistently presenting blog articles that the other members have ethical issues with, either due to content, or lack there of, is unlikely to remain with us for long. Harmony within the group is more important than the happiness of one particular person with the situation. There have been times where one person has been a poor fit for a specific team fusion and has had to be asked to step out of that team. Generally this is often due to personality clashes and there is no reason that person can not join another team. With multiple teams we may be able to move someone, but I can’t promise that. Please remember we are adults, and to treat each other with the same love, compassion and understanding that you would want someone to treat your young child with! Yet by the same token each individual must remember the commitment they have made to the team. Let us strive to uplift each other.

FAQ #7: Will we have a forum/group etc?

Yes, you have found it!

FAQ #8: Can I leave?
Yup. Any time. Preferably with integrity. I would appreciate it if you would talk to me first incase there is something to be learned from your situation. Perhaps things can be modified. Perhaps not. Perhaps a change I made mid-stream does not work for you. There may be a chance of moving to another tribe unit if more than one is running. We’re all here of our own free will. Just remember, do no harm. We’re all learning here. We want you here, but we want you to do what is best for you as well.

FAQ #9: What reading would make this project easier to understand?

“Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill “Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us” by Seth Godin “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie

and if that inspires you… then…
“Tribal Leadership” by Dave Logan “Launching a Leadership Revolution” by Orrin Woodward & Chris Brady

FAQ #10: Whats your role in this many groups going to be?

My role will honestly depend on a number of variables. I will have some active participation in several groups. However that means I am spread out. Total numbers will determine how my time is divided. As is typical with Tribes, there is likely to be a group that I bond with better than others. I will be available for big scale projects, teaching, leading and general Q&A. I’m at your disposal. However, this doesn’t mean I can or will do your work for you. Also while I will provide training in some areas, this does not replace other training you should be receiving, in people skills, leadership, social media, and marketing, etc. I do teach a class in social media marketing that is geared towards beginner and intermediates, however it is optional. You are your own most valuable asset! You have countless educational opportunities available to you from countless sources. Never stop growing & learning!

FAQ #11: Can I represent my friends blog as well as my own?

One blog per person please. However, please feel free to share this information with your friend as perhaps they would like to be involved directly. You are certainly welcome to share what you learn with this group. You and they can syndicate each others material as well.
